Triveni Kala Sangam’s Art Department is designed for artists who are looking to develop an individual style, a beginner wanting to explore and practice Drawing, Painting, Sculptures, Photography, Glassworks and mix media or children who want to have fun with colours along with basic ideas about Art or experienced artists aiming to further their art in a beautiful atmosphere.

Painting

The Painting Department at Triveni Kala Sangam operates under the overall guidance of renowned artist Shri Rameshwar Broota.

Morning classes for seniors are conducted by Shri Rameshwar Broota and Evening classes are taken by Shri Sanjay Roy and Shri Satish Sharma. Lessons for children are held by Smt. Surinder Kaur in the afternoons. Triveni Kala Sangam’s Department of Painting offers three kinds of courses:

Advance Course: Meant for students who have already undergone some training in drawing as well as painting in order to hone their skills further.

Beginners Course: Meant for those who have a keen interest and basic aptitude for drawing and painting.

Art Classes for Children: This course caters to the all school going children who are interested in learning art.

Shri Rameshwar Broota has been heading the Department of Art since 1967 and has been playing a vital role in inspiring and guiding young talents. He is a renowned Indian contemporary artist who graduated in Fine Arts from the Delhi College of Art in 1963. Known internationally for his earlier satirical works and then very personalized large Monochromatic paintings with emphasis on “Man” and his conditions, Shri Rameshwar Broota’s works are housed in several important collections in India and abroad including the National Gallery of Modern Art – Delhi, Kiran Nadar Museum of Modern Art – Delhi, Lalit Kala Academi, President’s House and Kunst Museum – Dusseldorf.

Shri Broota won several prestigious Awards including three times National Award of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1980, 1981 and 1984. He had several solo shows of Paintings and Photographs to his credit including an important Retrospective at Kiran Nadar Museum, Delhi in 2015. He was awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ by the Jury – India Today Art Awards 2016.

Shri Sanjay Roy who has been teaching senior students of the Evening class since 1994, studied under the guidance of Shri Rameshwar Broota. He received the National Scholarship in 1992, Bansi Parimur Award 1995, The Junior Fellowship in 1998 and The Senior Fellowship in 2006 from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He has had three solo shows at Shridharani Gallery in Delhi and has participated in several group shows including the New York Biennale. He is also the Art Advisor for the Delhi Government.




Shri Satish Sharmawho teaches young and new students in the Evening class studied Drawing and Painting under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Roy and Shri Broota. Before joining Triveni Kala Sangam’s Painting Department as a teacher he was working as Art Director at an advertising firm. He has had three solo shows at Shridharani Gallery in Delhi and participated in several group shows in India. He was also awarded the Sahitya Kala Parishad Annual award 2014 and AIFACS Annual Award for 2015.




Smt. Surinder Kaur graduated from the College of Art, New Delhi, in 1976 and joined Triveni Kala Sangam under the guidance of Shri Rameshwar Broota. Having had several solo shows since 1987, she was awarded the Senior Fellowship by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India for the years 1997-99. She won the Sahitya Kala Parishad awards in 1976, 1978, and 1979 and the AIFACS awards in 1976, 1979, and 1989. Her works are in collections with National Gallery of Modern Art, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Lalit Kala Akademi – New Delhi, College of Art – New Delhi, Bharat Bhawan – Bhopal, Punjab University – Patiala, and with private collectors in France, UK, Netherlands, Italy, Canada, USA, and Spain.

Sculpture

The Department of Sculpture in Triveni Kala Sangam started in the year 1986 and it takes pride in giving the Indian art industry, some of the most talented sculpture artists, in these last three decades. The sculpture department has weekly and also weekend classes.

Ms. Saroj Jain is at the helm of the Sculpture Department, teaching the art of sculpting from the basics to the advanced methods and techniques. Her professional excellence and dedication has fulfilled the young dreams of many.

She studied at Delhi College of Art from 1983 to 1987 and thereafter became an instructor at the sculpture department of Triveni Kala Sangam in 1986. Her works have garnered accolades in both national and international quarters. They are in the collections of National Gallery of Modern Art, Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi College of Art and The Oberoi in Delhi, as well as private collections in USA, UK and Canada. She is also a recipient of Sahitya Kala Parishad and AIFACS awards.

Photography

Triveni Kala Sangam’s Photography Department was established in 1980 and was among the first in the country to have started photography workshops. Headed by the legendary pictorialist Dr. O.P Sharma, the department is known for imparting in-depth photographic knowledge to its students in both theoretical and practical aspects. The students benefit from an unparalleled access to the department fully equipped facilities. Programs for both beginners and amateurs include wildlife, nature, landscape, studio and food photography.


Dr. O.P Sharma is a self-taught photographer and a major figure of the pictorial school in the history of Indian photography. He has sought to bring his fine art vocation into his photography teaching. He is a fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of London, Photographic Society of America, Honorary fellow of IIPC and an honorary member of Japan International Photographic Federation.

His journey as a photography teacher began in Modern School, Barakhamba Road, and then he joined Triveni Kala Sangam to head the department, in the year 1980. Under his dedication and guidance, the department of photography has inspired generation of students and photographers.

Glassworks

Triveni Kala Sangam is one of the few places in the country, where glass is being used as a medium for creative expression. Under the guidance of renowned artist, Shri Vijay Kowshik, who conducts classes for various techniques in stained glass, stacked glass, glass mosaic and how to create glass sculptures.

Well known in the field internationally, Shri Vijay Kowshik has organized and conducted various workshops, symposiums and exhibitions in India and other countries. He was the Director of the IX Triennale India (Lalit Kala Akademi) in 1997. He is the Founding General Secretary of the Art Society for Glass Ceramic and Handicrafts of India; Advisor to Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, as well as a member of the Ceramic Society of India and Secretary of Rasaja Foundation.
